One of my recent favorites performing a very cool live version of his tune The Wild Hunt on Pitchfork.
sorry about the commercial…

One of my favorite AP songs, done a little differently. I really like this version. It isn’t as aggressive as the studio recording, but still hits pretty hard. The horns add a nice gypsy-folk vibe.

jónsi – sinking friendships (live) from Jónsi on Vimeo.
I wish tickets weren’t 50 bucks. I would totally go, this looks like an amazing show.

Usually I want to punch Pitchfork in the head, but they got this one very right. Check out careful crossers and the illinois.

This is the first new song off the new album. I have really been looking forward to hearing Infinite Arms. The last two LPs were so good that I won’t be surprised if this one disappoints a little, it’s inevitable. So far, through the first few listens, I am digging it.

This song is the reason I gave MGMT a second look and ended up really digging Oraculur Spectacular. I am also a big time Sigur Rós fan and can’t think of anyone better than Jónsi to take a swim with Time To Pretend.

A friend of mine wants a few suggestions for new music, so I figured why not test drive the new site. Here are some of the new and new-to-me bands I’ve been listening to:
Non traditional instruments, electronic elements and amazing creativity. He co-wrote the string arrangements for Arcade Fire’s albums Funeral and Neon Bible.

Eastern European influences, accordian and horns; mostly a raucus, folky mess. So Good.

Japanese math-rock band. Reminds me of Braid, they play with time signatures and incorporate a lot of jazzy rhythms.

They remind me of Death Cab; with more banjo. And more banjo is always a good thing, just ask Sufjan.

These guys have a 60s, travelin’ and a ramblin’ vibe. Lots of instruments, big choruses and harmonies. Disregard what pitchfork has to say because, well, they’re clueless on this one.
